14.14. Replacement of brake shoes on back drum-type brakes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Brake shoes on back drum-type brakes

1–screws;

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Lift the back party of the car and fix on support.
2. Remove back wheels and disconnect a cable of the parking brake.
3. Turn out two screws and remove a brake drum.
Prevention If the brake drum is difficult for removing, gradually and evenly screw in two openings bolts (on 8 mm) and remove a brake drum.
4. Remove the top returnable spring.
5. Remove forward and back clips of brake shoes and from a reverse side of a brake board remove racks of support of brake shoes.
6. Remove a spring of an anti-tinkling sound and a regulator spring.
7. Note the provision of an adjusting level and remove the bottom returnable spring.
8. Remove a clip and a washer and disconnect a cable of the parking brake from a back brake shoe.
9. Remove lobbies and back brake shoes.
10. Clear all details of the back brake mechanism a cleaner of brakes and dry up them.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Lift the back party of the car and fix on support.
2. Remove back wheels and disconnect a cable of the parking brake.
3. Turn out two screws and remove a brake drum.
Prevention If the brake drum is difficult for removing, gradually and evenly screw in two openings bolts (on 8 mm) and remove a brake drum.
4. Examine working brake cylinders on absence of leakages of brake liquid.
	5. Measure thickness of overlays of back brake shoes. Replace all brake shoes on one axis of the car even if only one block has thickness, smaller maximum permissible. Minimum admissible thickness: 1,0 mm
6. Check overlays of brake shoes on absence of pollution by oil or lubricants, wear and cracks.
	7. Measure internal diameter of a brake drum. Replace a brake drum if internal diameter of a drum exceeds maximum permissible value. Maximum diameter: 200 mm
8. Check brake drums on lack of cracks, dredging or unequal wear. If necessary, chisel or replace a brake drum.
	9. Check uniformity of a prileganiye of a brake shoe to a brake drum.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

	1. With greasing for brakes grease the following points of contact of brake shoes: a. points of contact of brake shoes with the working brake cylinder; b. points of contact to racks of support of brake shoes; c. points of contact of brake shoes with a brake board.
2. Establish an adjusting level and the plug approximately in too situation in which they were before removal.
3. Establish a back brake shoe, connect to it a cable of the parking brake and fix it a washer and a clip.
4. Establish a forward brake shoe and connect lobbies and back brake shoes the bottom returnable spring.
5. Establish assembly of brake shoes on a basic plate, with an adjusting level the established between forward and back brake shoes.
6. From a reverse side of a brake board establish racks and, clips, fix on them brake shoes.
7. Check correctness of installation of an adjusting level and establish the top returnable spring.
8. Establish a spring of an anti-tinkling sound and a regulator spring.
9. Establish a brake drum and fix it two screws.
10. Adjust brakes.
11. Establish back wheels and fix them nuts. Inhaling moment: 88–118 N • m
