14.13. Replacement of forward brake shoes

GENERAL INFORMATION

Brake disk and forward brake shoes

1–brake hose;
2–bolt;
3–a directing finger and a protective cover;
4–spring;
5–union of pumping and dustproof cap;
6–support;
7–holder of a support;
8–brake disk;
9–screws

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the forward party of the car and fix on support.
2. Remove forward wheels.
3. Remove two protective covers and turn out two bolts and the plug.
4. Remove a support.
5. Remove a spring clip.
6. Remove brake shoes.
7. Measure thickness of brake shoes.

Minimum thickness of a brake shoe: 2,0 mm
8. A cap wrench disconnect a brake tube, thus collect the leaked brake liquid.
9. Turn out two bolts and remove the holder of a support.
10. Measure thickness of a brake disk in four places on a circle.

Minimum thickness of a brake disk: 18 mm
11. By the indicator of hour type measure palpation of a brake disk.

Maximum palpation: 0,10 mm

Prevention

Excessive palpation can be caused by the free bearing of a nave of a wheel.


12. Turn out two screws and remove a brake disk.
13. Remove a rust and a step on perimeter of a brake disk. If necessary, replace a brake disk.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check overlays of brake shoes on absence of pollution by oil or lubricants, wear, cracks, and also measure thickness of overlays of brake shoes.

Thickness of brake shoes:
The nominal: 11,0-11,5 mm
The minimum admissible: 2,0 mm
2. Visually check the basis of brake shoes on absence of damages, cracks or non-uniform wear.
3. Measure thickness of a brake disk.

Thickness of a brake disk:
The nominal: 20 mm
The minimum admissible: 18 mm
4. By the indicator of hour type measure palpation of a brake disk at distance of 8-12 mm from external edge.

Maximum permissible palpation: 0,08 mm

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the new or restored brake disk and fix it two screws.
2. Establish the holder of a support and fix it two bolts.

Inhaling moment: 45–67 N • m
3. A cap wrench connect a brake tube to a support.

Inhaling moment: 13–18 N • m
4. Establish brake shoes in a support and establish a support on the holder of a support.
5. Grease and screw two bolts and plugs and tighten them the demanded moment.

Inhaling moment: 26–28 N • m
6. Establish protective covers.
7. Remove air from a hydraulic contour of brake system.
8. Check absence of leakages of brake liquid.
